Day 1 subbing at one of the poorest elementary schools in Fairfield. What a nice school! The secretaries were cheerful and organized. One of them gave us, along with a binder full of information, a map and a tour of the school. No one does that. I watched patient paraprofessionals all day long trying to get reluctant students to do what they were supposed to do, using the calmest, quietest voices i have ever heard. One of the paras described the school as "heartfelt." Overall, the kids were good, and the classroom is clean, organized, and spacious. Not a bad place to be spending the next twelve school days. And i don't have to get up early, wondering where i am going to be.
